Welcome to the second blog in my series highlighting the services that Tech Advice offers. Today I will be looking at the various forms of assistance that Tech Advice provides for those devices that you carry with you or use daily including: computers, smartphones, and tablets/iPads.
Computers:
Not to be confused with repairs, which I covered in the previous blog post, computer assistance involves helping you with issues such as changing settings, e-mail and software issues, troubleshooting Windows problems, and installing software. Unlike repairs, we will try to solve these kinds of issues over the phone or using remote access software, we will only make a house call in situations where the above solutions have been exhausted or if there is a chance that it may be a hardware issue. If a house call is required I would encourage you to read Tech Advice’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic which you can find here. The only software issue that we class as a repair is virus/malware removal due to the complex nature of the removal process.

Smartphones & Tablets:
We can also help you with the various issues that may present themselves when using a smartphone or tablet. Examples of these issues can include trouble transferring photos to your PC, help finding a particular setting, issues with apps, and advice on best practice and taking care of your device. We can also help you with setting up a new device and what settings to turn on/off from the start to match your usage.
Be advised that our support for Apple devices is limited, but not non-existent so your patience may be required while we try to troubleshoot complex issues on Apple devices. Also, as I mentioned in the previous post, we can only perform repairs and upgrades on computers, but we are looking into expanding into this area and we will let you know through social media if this changes.

Conclusion:
I would encourage you to keep an eye on the blogs page of techadvice.ie and on our social media pages as we will be showing you how to solve common issues that can arise when using the above devices, many of which are easy to fix. These posts will break down the steps using images/videos and easy to read language.
